Seoyon E-Hwa has earned NET New Excellent Technology certification at the 3rd New Excellent Technology Awards 2025 for its “Manufacturing Technology for Automotive Interior Materials Containing 70% Recycled PC+PET,” jointly developed with Hyundai Motor and Lotte Chemical.

NET certification is a national program that officially recognizes technologies developed for the first time in Korea or technologies that significantly improve existing solutions. Certification is granted after a comprehensive review of industrial impact and commercialization potential.

The newly certified technology combines recycled PC and PET to meet the mechanical properties and quality reliability required for automotive interior parts while increasing recycled content to 70 percent. Unlike conventional PC ABS materials, the PC PET structure does not use styrenic resins which offers advantages in odor and VOC control. The use of PET based feedstock also strengthens material availability and long-term supply stability.

The fabric and resin share the same material family which enables a closed loop recycling system. The material also delivers strong chemical resistance and excellent paint performance which makes it well suited for real world automotive interior applications. This technology is expected to serve as a core solution for expanding eco friendly materials and responding to ELV regulations.

At the award ceremony, Kang Sang-wook (Head of the Advanced Research Lab) said the NET certification reflects the results of Seoyon E-Hwa’s efforts to develop recycled material technologies while proactively addressing ESG management and global environmental regulations. He added that the company will continue to expand the use of recycled materials and strengthen its technological competitiveness.
